Audio-Technica ATR2100

      Audio-Technica ATR2100-USB                           microphone

      (50 - 50000 Hz, Wired, Black)

What Tim says:

This is the best bang-for-the-buck USB mic I’ve found. I use it for all phone interviews for my podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show. It’s traveling with me over the holidays. With this, ear buds, and ECamm Call Recorder, you’re set.

Letters from a Stoic

Letters from a Stoic: Epistulae           Morales Ad Lucilium (Classics)

What Tim says:

Tim's all-time favourite piece of literature!

Weight Lifting Straps

Weight Lifting Straps – Elite Body Squad Lifting Straps With Neoprene Padded Wrist Support + Double Stitched 100% Cotton – 60cm Long Heavy Duty Wrist Straps For Weight Training And BodyBuilding

What Tim says:

I do 3-4 sets of 5-10 seconds each. Done every 10 minutes or so, I find this prevents excessive wrist and forearm trauma, allowing me to do 3-4 sessions per week instead of 1-2.

Nayoya Back

Nayoya Back and Neck Pain Relief - Acupressure Mat and Pillow Set - Relieves Stress, Back, Neck, and Sciatic Pain

What Tim says:

This was recommended to me by a Cirque du Soleil performer after I pulled my shoulder and lat. In the Ukraine, he used this type of mat daily after strenuous practice, particularly for back pain. The jury is still out, but I’ve found 6-10 minutes per session, 1-2 times per day, to have a near-miraculous effect on mid-back issues (and thoracic mobility, oddly). Could be placebo, of course. Start slow, my eager little friends. The “thorns” are sharp.

Jarrow Ubiquinol QH-Absorb

Jarrow Ubiquinol QH-Absorb (100mg, 120 Softgels)

What Tim says:

For the last several months, I have been cycling on and off of creatine monohydrate and ubiquinol (think of it as a more bio-available CoQ10). The catalyst was preliminary data that suggests this combo might help with mitochondrial “rehab”—so to speak—after Lyme disease and associated antibiotics. Perhaps more broadly appealing, in some studies (example), creatine appears to have a neuroprotective effect in animal models of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other age-related forms of cognitive decline.

Vans Unisex Adults' Classic Slip On

Vans Unisex Adults' Classic Slip On

What Tim says:

This makes me seem like one of the grups, but I love these shoes. Not for skating. My criteria: great for airports, zero-drop soles for restoring Achilles mobility, usable at semi-casual but nice dinners, and small enough to pack in carry-on luggage. I’ve worn these for everything from business meetings to canyon hiking (in a pinch), and they’ve held up beautifully.

Yaktrax Pro Winter Traction Device

Yaktrax Pro Winter Traction Device

What Tim says:

For modifying normal shoes when you need to walk on snow and ice. They are amazing and fit in a jacket pocket. I bought the basic “Walk” model, but there are many options.

Extreme Foam Roller - Premium High Density Muscle Foam Roller Provides Deep Tissue & Trigger Point Massage

Extreme Foam Roller

What Tim says:

I’ve tried every foam roller imaginable, but this is my new favorite for opening up hamstrings and IT band prior to AcroYoga and other gymnastics practice. That front lever is still eluding me, but I’ll keep at it. WARNING: This will smash you 10x more than smooth rollers. I got overzealous my first session and, the next day, felt like I’d been leg kicked by Buakaw (my fave kickboxer, BTW).

Buddha Board

Buddha Board

What Tim says:

A zen-minded Etch-a-Sketch. Use the included brush to paint designs onto the board with water. As the water evaporates, your image fades, all within 30-60 seconds. This is a great tool for learning to let go… or rekindling your artistic side. If you have 60 seconds a day, you have time for the Buddha Board.

Westlab Epsom Salt 5 kg

Westlab Epsom Salt 5 kg

What Tim says:

I take hot baths every night when at home in SF. Nearly always, I add epsom salt (typically 4-8 cups), which facilitates muscular relaxation and recovery. Rather than buy small boxes at CVS or Safeway, I buy in bulk and store it in rolling dog-food containers. This is a good use of Amazon Prime.

Elite Gymnastics Gym Rings

Elite Gymnastic Gym Rings with Buckles that Don’t Slip - Highest Rated Gym Rings on Amazon - Free Skipping Rope Included

What Tim says:

These are super portable (easily fit in a small backpack) and incredibly durable for the price. I’m using them for mostly dips and muscle-up progressions. My pull-up rig [written during the summer] is finally complete, and I suspend them from this (I do not do any kipping work on this rig). The Nayoya allow me to leave the rings outdoors. BUT: If you’re going to travel without chalk, I highly suggest wooden rings.

Transparent Silicone Cupping Set for Chinese Cupping

What Tim says:

“Cupping” contraptions are traditionally made of glass in Chinese medicine, where the treatment involves fire and is sometimes combined with moxibustion (usually mugwort). I was first exposed to the silicone variety by a massage therapist, who helped me before my drumming gig with Foreigner for The Tim Ferriss Experiment, when my forearms had seized. It worked like a charm. I’m unsure of the mechanism of action, but it could involve increased local blood flow and some superficial fascial release (or placebo, of course). Be forewarned: it often leaves gigantic hickeys on your skin.

What Tim says:

I love multi-purposes tools. This insulated thermos is my go-to for both cold and hot beverages, but I also travel with it, as it can double as a “foam” roller for my hips, glutes, piriformis, etc.

Aqua Sphere Kaiman Exo Swimming Goggle

What Tim says:

Hilarious fact: I didn’t learn to swim properly until in my 30’s. I found an earlier model of these when I first learned to swim using the Total Immersion method (my cliff notes here; my TV episode on this after a lifetime of water phobia). These are my newest pair.
